Science Learning

We have been learning about plants. Today we did an experiment using dye and celery. I wonder what will happen to the celery? Then we labelled the parts of a flower. The other day we planted some marigold flowers and we are waiting for them to grow.

Earthquake

Every Friday Megan comes from the YMCA to teach us some gym skills. We love it!!!!!!

Maths Learning

Leo and Rosa have been learning about compatible numbers. The circles have been learning about adding on from the biggest number. The squares are adding in their heads and the triangles are adding using equipment.

Fairy Tales

We have been learning about Fairy Tales. We got to dress up as a storybook character on Friday the 13th. It was a lucky day for us!

Room 11

There are 9 boys in room 11 and 10 girls in room 11. The girls are cool and the boys are cool. They like their teacher. Room 11 love to get certificates. Room 11 does Jump Jam. Room 11 are absolutely briliant.

Science Alive

What fun! Today Sarah from Science Alive came to Wairakei School. She taught us lots about simple machines. We were excited to make simple machines at different stations. Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to help make this lesson very successful.

Box Construction

Today we had a problem! There was a leak in our classroom and the toys were getting wet! We designed a machine to fix the problem and then we made the machine out of boxes and other materials. We needed to work together to fix the problem.

Police Visit

Today we had Sue the Policewoman come to see our class. She told us all about road safety and traffic. She read us a story about what traffic is and how we can keep safe.

PMP

Every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we go to PMP with Mrs Bergin. We love using the parachute!!

Ronald Story by Leo

On a wet and rainy Monday we went to see Ronald McDonald in the hall and Ronald McDonald told us about the pedometers. We had to do a cool and busy dance.

Ronald McDonald came to our school on a wet Monday. He did some Jump Jam with us. He started off our Greatest Feat!!!

Technology

We made some circuits and Lego creations. We had to persevere and work together to get our machines to work!

Kiwi Sport

On Friday we were able to try many different sports. We tried marching, Aussie Rules and basketball. Our favourite was the Aussie Rules because the coach was funny and gave us some great tips on how to play the sport. Enjoy the photos:)

Fitness

Every morning we keep fit by doing lots of fun fitness activities.

Cross Country

We had our Junior School Cross Country a couple of weeks ago. The children trained hard and ran very well on the day. We had a great parent turnout and a stunning day. Well done Room 11!!!
